London Flats
March Construction successfully transformed a stalled development, overcoming structural and logistical challenges to deliver a robust foundation for completion.

The brief
This project involved entering stalled development on a brownfield site. Originally intended to house 21 flats, the project had been mismanaged, leaving it incomplete and facing structural and logistical challenges. The client required a construction partner capable of stabilising the situation, resolving existing issues and managing the completion of the core structure.
Our solution
March Construction was contracted to assess and rectify the initial problems before taking the project forward. Working in a constrained urban environment with no space for a static crane, we adapted to the site’s limitations and delivered key structural elements. Highlights included:
- Innovative lifting solutions: Designed, fabricated and installed an 85-tonne steel frame and two reinforced concrete lift cores, rising five storeys, without a static crane.
- Underground infrastructure: Installed a large cellular attenuation tank and managed complex drainage works to meet the site’s requirements.
Phased execution: Worked efficiently to stabilise the structure and proceed with the shell and core build, ensuring a robust foundation for subsequent fit-out.
The outcome
Despite the project’s difficulties, March Construction delivered a solid structural framework, enabling the client to proceed with final fit-out works. The project stands as a testament to our ability to navigate challenging urban sites, adapt to unexpected issues and bring structure and order to complex developments.
