The Brief
Our client on this project was also the architect and developer, who tasked us to create a new build in a traditional setting. The house, pitched as a high-end property, was to be built with a good sense of social and environmental responsibility and ready for sale on the open market within 9 months.
Our solution
With build-time and sustainability being such important factors, we specified and procured a SIPS timber frame construction, making sure that all of the under-the-skin engineering delivered on the finished article. The installation of a MVHR system gives the house a high efficiency and energy rating and high-quality glass and doors allow for plenty of light, letting the garden become a central space between the two wings of the house.
The outcome
This house sold in a week of being put on the market. The considered use of materials, colour and texture added depth and colour to the well-lit construction, which uses smooth, unfussy internal carpentry to maintain an easy flow within the space.
Within days of moving in, the new owners were taken aback by the level of comfort offered by a new build SIPs home – when paired with the right systems – in comparison to their previous traditionally-built property.
